What the teams are asked to do by Day 2
The following elements of formative assessment were the subject of teachers’ experimentation:
- Finding strategies for creating high self-efficacy through a ‘growth mindset’ culture (Carol Dweck); using learning ‘powers’ to help children reflect on how they learn and removing comparative rewards.
- Prior knowledge questioning, especially at lesson starts and the impact of cognitive science
- Decontextualized learning intentions and co-constructed success criteria to maximum effect.
- Establishing random talk partners and mixed ability, using differentiated challenges or other strategies. Focusing on collective student efficacy and looking for examples.
