What the teams are asked to do by Day 2

The following elements of formative assessment were the subject of teachers’ experimentation:

  1. Finding strategies for creating high self-efficacy through a ‘growth mindset’ culture (Carol Dweck); using learning ‘powers’ to help children reflect on how they learn and removing comparative rewards.
  2. Prior knowledge questioning, especially at lesson starts and the impact of cognitive science
  3. Decontextualized learning intentions and co-constructed success criteria to maximum effect.
  4. Establishing random talk partners and mixed ability, using differentiated challenges or other strategies. Focusing on collective student efficacy and looking for examples.
