The growth mindset had been introduced Children are more focused and more positive about their learning. Children are using the ‘I can’t do it YET’ language and they encourage each other to have a growth mindset. Children can identify when someone is being fixed mindset and challenge that child or adult to have a growth mindset.
Learning muscles had been introduced one a week, displayed around the board. Children chose which one to use in a particular lesson and this is reviewed at the end of the lesson. How well did we use it? Some had used superhero characters for each learning muscle, adding them to the success criteria. Younger children had Mr. Men characters whereas older children liked having stories to share with younger children.
In two schools the same characters are used in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 so that it is a consistent approach. Children know what a good learner likes and staff are clear errand more tuned in.
