All teachers were co-constructing success criteria which has given children more ownership of their learning. Expectations are more explicit and learning becomes more embedded.
All had analysing what a good one looks like through sample texts which had been successful.
Quizzing with the knowledge organiser had helped children remember small chunks of knowledge.
As a lesson starter I made a short excellent text and a bad one and asked children to discuss which one they preferred and why. Children came up with all of the success criteria for a diary entry. It gave them more ownership of the success criteria compared to giving them a list.Emily White – West Monkton Primary
