Teachers had used the quadrant retrieval questions in maths lessons which has made children more confident, leading to improved SATs data.
Using 5 minute times tables tests and 5 minutes reasoning questions at beginnings of lessons had given a quick overview of who understands.
Pre-teaching had led to better outcomes, with greater confidence.
When teaching improper fractions to mixed numbers, retrieval questions at beginning, middle and end of lessons enabled us to realise that the children needed to be more secure in this before we moved on. We were then able to replan and recap the learning the next day to make sure all children were secure.

Science flashback question cards had also been successful recap resources.
In order to fully demonstrate understanding of a concept putting up a question with an incorrect answer and asking them to talk and work collaboratively to convince the teacher it was wrong had been very positive.
